Happy New Year, everyone!

It’s January and that means resolution time!

Let’s all put the trying year that was 2020 behind us and make 2021 a better year. That shouldn’t be too hard considering how bad this past year was for a lot of people.

If you struggled in 2020, we at Awnings And More sincerely hope you have a much better 2021 and that everyone in Alberta, Canada and the world can get back on track and have the best year ever.

Things should eventually get back to some semblance of normal and when they do, we hope you are at the top of your game and ready to take on everything and have a superb year!

Let’s take a look at how you can get yourself back on track in 2021.

Take back control of your finances

With people being laid off left and right, 2020 hit many people in the wallets. Do a deep dive into your spending and see where you can cut back and save money and where you can put money to lessen your debt load. If you’re paying off some kind of loan or debt (student, car, credit card mortgage, etc) see if you can find some extra money to put on those loans so you’re paying more than just the minimum amount. You could potentially save yourself thousands in interest payments.

Of course, if you’re simply in survival mode, then you may be able to earn some extra cash doing gig work online.

Finish your to-do lists

It’s hard to believe anyone would still have something left on their to-do list with all the time we’ve had off in 2020, but with it being a particularly harsh year, getting stuff done wasn’t always at the top of people’s priority lists. Take a look at any unfinished projects you have and get them completed (or as close to complete as you can).

Even a small sense of accomplishment can make you feel so much better.

Use less energy

We are not the only ones to have a rough 2020. The earth itself had a rough year, with the hottest November ever recorded. The climate emergency is worsening, but you can help do your small part to minimize it by turning off any electrical appliances or lights not currently in use, making sure your home is insulated well and thinking of ways you can start using more renewable energy and less traditional energy.

One of the best ways you can make your home more energy efficient is by using shade during the summer to keep your house cool when it is blazing hot outside. We know hot summer days are a distant dream right now, but they’ll return eventually, so you might consider planning for them with some awnings and shades.
